Person-Centred Emergency Preparedness (PCEP): A process tool and framework

Person-Centred Emergency Preparedness (PCEP)

The PCEP tool is designed for use by community health and disability providers. The PCEP can be used to facilitate meaningful everyday interactive conversations with clients in the community that raise awareness about emergency preparedness to:
• improve emergency preparedness for people with chronic health conditions and disability
• reduce negative consequences of disaster triggered by natural hazard emergencies, and
• improve recovery following a natural hazard event.

The following video-based learning resources show PCEP in action. A user guide accompanies these videos.

These resources were designed to be used flexibly by community, disability support, home health care, and emergency service staff to enable emergency preparedness in others. We look forward to feedback on how these resources get used to promote disability-inclusive disaster risk reduction.
